Food Supplements on the Go!

Health became one of the major concerns of man as shown by the release of more commercial food supplements in the market. Do you know who dictates the market?  According to sources, "baby boomers" do. "Baby boomers" are those who were born between  the years of 1946 and 1964, just after World War II. Young males returning to the US, Canada, and Australia from the war started making families, which resulted to a significant number of children into the world.  At present, boomers start turning 66, and care deeply about their health. Thus, the trend of market goes health and wellness.

Technically speaking, a food supplement is typically a nutrient added to a food stuff which would otherwise not contain that nutrient. Intake of these food supplements helps in the prevention or reduction of the occurrence of certain diseases. The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994 of the US Congress gave a finer definition for food supplement. According to DSHEA, a dietary supplement is a product that is intended to supplement the diet and that bears or contains one or more of the following dietary ingredients: a vitamin, a mineral, an herb or other botanical, an amino acid, a dietary substance for use by man to supplement the diet by increasing the total daily intake, or a concentrate, metabolite, constituent, extract or combinations of these ingredients (Wikipedia, 2012).

I studied the effectiveness of a commercially-available food supplement in reducing serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, and fasting blood sugar in my undergraduate thesis and results showed that in general, the food supplement lowered the levels of triglyceride, total cholesterol, and fasting blood sugar concentrations in my samples.

I am now a part of a company that promotes health and wellness through its products. This is one of my ways not only to earn but to help promote good health as well. Our products are awarded Superbrands status which means our products perform above and beyond other brands in the health and wellness industry. Aside from the Superbrands status, our products are approved for distribution by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). If you would like to be part of the company as product distributor, you may contact me at

Earning is sweeter if you are able to help other people.
